About the Organizers
Edith Burney is a Youth & Teen Librarian at the Chelsea District Library, named Best Small Library in America in 2008, and the location of the first annual Kids Read Comics Convention in 2009. Edith enjoys working with teens to develop innovative teen programming, and sharing her knowledge of teen and youth literature.
Jerzy Drozd is a cartoonist, teaching artist and author of the graphic novel The Front: Rebirth. He is a contributing editor of Sugary Serials, an anthology of all-ages comics serialized online and collected in print. He is co-host of the Art & Story comics podcast.
Dan Merritt, with his wife Katie own and operate Green Brain Comics, a comic book specialty store in Dearborn. The store has received multiple awards for Best Comic Book Store by Metro Times, Detroit News and other magazines. Dan is actively involved in the business community and is vice chair of the East Dearborn Downtown Development Authority.
Dan Mishkin has written comic books for over thirty years, and is co-creator of the DC Comics heroes Amethyst and Blue Devil, among others. His work includes superheroes such as Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman, as well as science fiction, humor, horror and westerns. He has also written prose for young readers and is the author of the illustrated children’s novel, The Forest King. He lives with his wife in East Lansing, Michigan, where they raised three children, now grown.
